BERIEV Aircraft Company was an active participant of the 7th Moscow Aviation and Space Salon MAKS 2005 held on August 16 to 21. The exposition stand of BERIEV Aircraft Company in Pavillion "E" displayed multifarious information regarding BERIEV's current projects including those for the Be-200, Be103, and A-42PE amphibians. During the show, the developments of BERIEV Aircraft Company attracted attention of business people and aviation experts, and substantive negotiations with representatives of several countries were conducted. The presentation on principal lines of activity for BERIEV Aircraft Company was held, in the course of which Viktor Kobzev, BERIEV Director General, answered the many questions asked by Russian and foreign journalists. The President of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin visited the MAKS 2005 show on the opening day, and attended, among other stands, the BERIEV exposition where he had a look at the arrangement of the VIP version of the Be-200 amphibian. In the course of the MAKS 2005 show, IRKUT Corporation and EADS signed an agreement on registration of a joint enterprise for promotion of the Be-200 amphibian at the world market. The new company will deal with sales, marketing and support for the Be-200 program at the world market, and with assistance in the process of international certification. The fact that the Be-200 amphibian is now operated to advantage by Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, and is undergoing operational tests performed by the Civil Protection Department (Protezione Civile) of Italy jointly with SOREM Company, was noted during the signing of the agreement. Countries of the Mediterranean region and Southeast Asia as well as the USA evince interest in the amphibian. Besides, IRKUT Corporation signed a contract with Logistics Business Systems Ltd (LBS), a British company, for delivery of basic software for Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) System for aircraft operation. Similar ILS systems are now extensively used by Air Forces, aircraft manufacturers, and air carriers of the leading Western countries. The multipurpose Be-200ES amphibian sited at the static parking area was attended during the show by Head of Ministry of Emergency Situations Sergey Shoigu, Commander-in-Chief of the Air Force of the Russian Federation General Vladimir Mikhailov, Head of Federal Forestry Agency of Russia Valery Roschupkin, Minister of Defense of Republic of Ghana, and by heads of Russian federal agencies as well as by foreign guests of the show. The show offered opportunities for working and business meetings and substantive negotiations between BERIEV representatives and delegations of other countries, including the meeting with MOTOR SICH and PROGRESS Company representatives on certification of the Be-200 amphibian and its engines under Western regulations. Working meeting with delegation of Rheinmetall Defence Electronics GmbH (Germany) on establishment of a training center in Taganrog, and meeting between BERIEV management and representatives of the Russian-American working group on cooperation in aircraft projects are also worth mentioning. During the MAKS 2005 show, a cooperation agreement between GIDROAVIASALON 2006 and ILA 2006 exhibition organizers was signed. Active meetings with potential participants of GIDROAVIASALON 2006 were held, and a number of the would-be participants expressed their wish to take part in the forthcoming GIDROAVIASALON show.
