Beriev Aircraft Company is currently preparing for experimental operations of its Be-200ES multipurpose amphibian aircraft this year in Italy. In August-September, 2004, the Russian amphibian was operating in Sardinia (Italy) under the contract between Beriev Aircraft Company and SOREM, the official operator of fire fighting equipment of the Italian Protezione Civile. The Be-200ES aircraft proved to be very efficient in fighting the fires. The Italian specialists evaluated the operations as very good. Like last year, the aircraft will be flown by joint Russian/Italian crews. A team of Italian pilots has attended the theoretical and practical training courses at Beriev-based Hydroaviation Training Center.
