On 19 May, 2005, a meeting was held at Transport Canada, Ottawa, to define the initial procedure for certification of the Be-103 small amphibian aircraft in Canada. The Russian participants included Air Register, Beriev Aircraft Company and KnAAPO. The meeting was also attended by Beriev- and KnAAPO-authorized distributor in the North and South America, as well as by a Canadian company wishing to promote the Be-103 to the Canadian market. Discussions involved the certification procedure in Canada, certification requirements and a sample of application. Transport Canada stated that once a memorandum of intent to buy the Be-103 aircraft had been signed by KnAAPO and the Canadian customer, the Canadian aviation authorities would accept the application for the aircraft certification. Market investigations of the Canadian market are well under way. Beriev, KnAAPO and American companies are currently working to promote the Be-103 aircraft to Canada. In the near decade, the demand for this product in Canada is expected to reach 300 aircraft.
