From July 29 to August 4, 2003 the exhibition of experimental aviation "Air Venture 2003" of American Experimental Aviation Association EAA took place in the city of Oshkosh (USA, Wisconsin). BERIEV Aircraft Company jointly with manufacturer KNAAPO named after Y.A. Gagarin and customer K. Linn presented a new Be-103 amphibious aircraft intended for serial deliveries to the USA. According to the contract with American customer three Be-103 amphibious aircraft were delivered to the USA, two of them were demonstrated at the exhibition: at the static exposition and at the hydrobase. The amphibian based on the hydrobase was located on water and performed four demo flights from water during the exhibition. On July 31, 2003 the official presentation and handing of the type certificate for the Be-103 amphibious aircraft took place at the press-center of the exhibition. The type certificate was handed by co-chairman of regulations and certification of Federal Aviation Administration of the USA (FAA) Nik Sabatiny. On August 1 the Director of FAA Marianne Blackly visited the desplay area of the Be-103 at the airport Wittman (at the exhibition's area) in order to familiarize personally with the Be-103 aircraft and meet representatives of developer, manufacturer and Air Register. The obtaining of the FAA certificate enables to begin official sales of the Be-103 at the aircraft market of the similar class in the USA and Canada. After the exhibition, the the Be-103 aircraft was officially handed to the customer. To date aircraft are registered in the USA and situated at the customer's base in New Jersey. The Be-103 amphibious aircraft is the first Russian serial aircraft certificated in the USA and intended for the USA market. Photos were granted by "Aerocorp International". |
