Dear sirs ! On July 2, 2003 in the town of Komsomolsk-on-Amur the first serial Be-103 light amphibious aircraft performed its maiden flight from the airfield of Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aviation Production Association. The aircraft was flown at 19:30 (local time) by the test-pilot of KNAAPO V.A. Guber. The aircraft behavior was normal in all flight conditions. The Be-103 amphibious aircraft developed by BERIEV Aircraft Company and manufactured serially by Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aviation Production Association can be used for passenger and cargo transportation, forest area, marine frontiers and economic area patrol, on-the-spot monitoring of ecological situation of water, aerial photography, urgent medical aid, urgent small-size cargo delivery. Serial aircraft are built in the scope of the contract for delivery of three Be-103 amphibious aircraft to the USA. After passing all required tests the first serial aircraft will be delivered to the American customer. The amphibian has got the Russian type certificate. The obtaining of the type certificate as per FAR-23 American regulations is planned for this year, which will significantly increase the competitiveness of this aircraft at the international aviation market.
