Yesterday, on June 17, 2003 in the city of Irkutsk the first serial Be-200ES
multipurpose amphibious aircraft performed its maiden flight from the airfield of Irkutsk
Aviation Industrial Association. The aircraft was flown by test-pilot of BERIEV Aircraft
Company N.P. Kuleshov and chief test-pilot of SPK IRKUT L.G. Smelyi. The aircraft behavior
was normal in all flight conditions. The flight lasted for 52 minutes.
The Be-200ES amphibious aircraft developed by BERIEV Aircraft Company and manufactured
serially by Irkutsk Aviation Industrial Association, can solve the following main tasks:
- delivery of teams of rescuers and necessary equipment to disaster areas and to
nearest airfields and areas of water.
- delivery of the first-priority cargo to the areas of the natural disaster with
the landing on the nearest airdfields and areas of water;
- evacuation of survivors from the disaster area;
- search and spotting of ships and boats under disaster, precise definition of the
coordinates of the emergency situation's areas;
- classification of spotted targets visually or using onboard equipment;
- transportation of fire-brigades and cargoes.
The aircraft was developed within the scope of the contract with the Russian Ministry
for Emergency Situations for delivery of seven aircraft. The delivery of one more
serial aircraft is planned for this year. The rest of the Be-200ES will be delivered to
the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations untill the end of 2005 year.
In spring 2003, flight and technical personnel of the Russian Ministry for Emergency
Situations headed by the chief of the aviation department of the Russian Ministry for
Emergency Situation R.S. Zakirov were trained for the operation of the Be-200ES at the
aviation training center of hydroaviation at BERIEV Aircraft Company.
The first flying Be-200 and the first Be-200ES (the second flying aircraft), which
were built before, are going through flight and certification tests at Flight-Experimental
Base of BERIEV Aircraft Company.
