Dear Sirs!
From March 18 to March 21 representatives of Federal Aviation Administration USA (FAA) worked at BERIEV Aircraft Company. The aim of the visit of the project engineer Rodger P. Chudy and test-pilot Brayan A. Hanckok was the accomplishment of the certification of the Be-103 light amphibious aircraft according to the FAA standard in order to get the American certificate of airworthness. The American delegation was accompanied by the group of specialists of the Gromov Flight Research Institute and Aviation Register of Aviation International Committee. The American test-pilot has performed a number of flights at the Be-103 amphibious aircraft, including the flights with aircraft noise measuring and stalling test flights. In his opinion the Russian amphibian is nice to control and available to master for the pilot of the average experience. The Be-103 amphibious aircraft, developed at BERIEV Aircraft Company and manufactured serially in Komsomolsk-on-Amur got the Russian type certificate of normal category on December 26, 2001. The getting of the FAA certificate will open the way for the Be-103 to the market of aircraft of this class in the USA and Canada.
