Dear Sirs!

The subject of the Council meeting: "Using of the elements of information technologies proper to CALS's principles while creating aviation equipment at BERIEV Aircraft Company".

The meeting is devoted to the questions of the increasing quality and competitiveness of aircraft equipment made in Russia, due to conversion to electronic technology of changing of technique and commercial information without papers, as well as joint using it at all phases of aircraft life time.

The aim of the meeting is the studying of results of CALS-technologies' elements introduction at Russian aviation industrial enterprises and particularly at BERIEV Aircraft Company.

"CALS-technologies is the key for the ensuring of enterprises' success at internal and external markets".

CALS-technologies noticeably allow to increase qualitative performance of aviation techniques, greatly reduce expenses production operation. That's why the development of CALS-technologies is widely maintained by the government of the Russian Federation, Russian Aerospace Agency, Ministry of Industry, Science and Technologies of the Russian Federation, State standard of Russia and other government departments of the Russian Federation.

From the history of the development of CALS-technologies:

In 1985 the Defense Department of the USA declared the plans for the creation of the global automatic system of electronic describing of all stages of designing, manufacturing and operation of military products - Computer Aided Acquisition and Logistic Support (in abbreviated form CALS). For the last years the CALS-technologies has developed much in the field of the defense industry and military-technological infrastructure of the Defense Department of the USA. According to information it allows to increase the realization of Scientific and Research Experimental Design Works by 30-40 %, to reduce the expenses for purchases of military products by 30%, to cut down the terms of purchase of set of spare parts by 22%, as well as reduce 9 times the time of correction of the projects.

Gnerally CALS-technologies make base conditions for realization of a through system of information support of articles at all stages of their life time - from development to utilization.

In Russia and in other countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States the standardization in the field of information technologies, including CALS, is also at the initial stage of the development. But today in the Commonwealth of Independent States leading enterprise-exporters of new techniques and armament first of all face the situation where obligatory condition of conducting a contract is the customer's demand to grant the technical documentation in electronic format of the products, corresponding to the international CALS-standard.

BERIEV Aircraft Company achieved important success in this field. Particularly, operational and technical documentation for Be-200, Be-103 and other aircraft SGML-format are under construction. Work on the following is performing in:

- development and use of electronic models for products;

- introduction of electronic model of the quality system functioning to the enterprises;

- organization of soft design and technological supply of manufacturing;

- development and introduction of program and methods supply to the studying center of hydroaviation specialists.

- development of the electronic network of the enterprise (with carrying capacity not less than 10 Gb/sec);

- information protection of the corporate network;

- creation of engineering data bases and information systems.

BERIEV Aircraft Company together with Problem Council No.6A of Rosaviacosmos "Aviation Industrial Council on CALS" Technical committee TK 431 State standard of the Russian Federation takes part in programs of development of CALS-technologies, subprogram for CALS at the State program of the development of civil aviation techniques till 2015 year, BERIEV Aircraft Company also takes part in All-Russian, branch and regional conferences for CALS-technologies.

Managers and specialists of leading enterprises of aviation industry of Russia will be the participants of the meeting.

Reports will be given by:

- Gennady S. Panatov - Director General - General Designer of BERIEV Aircraft Company, Doctor of technical Science, academician;

- Anatoly G. Bratukhin - Chairman of "Aviation Industrial Council for CALS-technologies" of Rosaviacosmos, Doctor of technical Science, professor, Honored science worker of the Russian Federation, academician of the branch academies of Russia and the USA;

- and other participants of the meeting.

With the speech of welcome to the participants and with a report will come out:

International accepted definition of CALS claims that CALS is a strategy of the industry and the government aimed at the effective creation, exchange, control and exploitation of electronic date bases, maintaining full working cycle of the product by means of the international standards, reorganization of the business activity and up-to-date technologies.

- Qualitative changes in social aspect of using of CALS took place since 1997. By this time CALS-(software shell) - software means, providing the connection of the control system of an enterprise by means of the standard interface to the information exchange system of international CALS-community have been widely spreaded. If, till that time it was the tool of relatively large firms because of the high prize, then the development of the computer techniques has led to the mass using of this direction of the information technology in industrial activity of average and small enterprises. An avalanche-like increase of the number of firms in developed countries, possessing the CALS-software shell, started (by appraisal of 1998 it was about 2 million). Thus, all of them entered into the process of national and international business integration.
