From 2nd to 5th October, 2007 the Eighth Meeting of Russian-Belorussian Intergovernmental Commission on Military-Technical cooperation took place in the town of Gelendzhik at the "Gydroaviasalon" exhibition site.
The meeting was headed by Russian Federal Military-Technical Cooperation Service Deputy Director Vladimir Paleschuk and First Deputy Chairman of the State Defence Industry Committee of Belarus Piotr Rogozhevskiy.
BERIEV Aircraft Company Director General Victor Kobzev took part in the work of the Commission. Mr. Kobzev presented the Be-200ES multipurpose amphibious aircraft to the Belorussian party, having focused the attention of the audience to the capabilities of the aircraft to fight forest fires, deliver rescue or patrol teams to the emergency situation hotspots, transport passengers and cargo. Participants of the Commission also got familiar with the Be-103 light multipurpose amphibious aircraft.
Fire-fighting air missions were performed over continental territory of Portugal and border areas of Spain both in mountainous, hardly-accessible areas of the country and in close proximity to human settlements.
"Gydroaviasalon" Director General Vladimir Konoplev presented to the Commission the development prospects of "Gydroaviasalon" Exhibition Complex. The Commission decided to prepare proposals on preparing joint Russian-Belorussian exposition at the "Gydroaviasalon-2008" International Exhibition to be held From September 4 till September 7, 2008.
